Tokyo, Japan – December 17, 2025 – The Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) officially launched the
APEC Energy Demand and Supply Outlook, 9th Edition at its headquarters in Tokyo. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Kazutomo Irie, Chairman & President of APERC, and attended by Mr. Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat.
The Outlook is APERC’s flagship publication, providing comprehensive analysis and long-term projections of energy trends across the APEC region. It serves as a critical resource for policymakers and stakeholders, offering insights into key themes such as energy security, affordability, and sustainability.
During the event, Mr. Pedrosa praised the Outlook as “the product of rigorous research, careful modelling, and years of accumulated expertise. It is one of the most trusted analytical resources across our region.” He also highlighted major findings, emphasizing “the growing role of clean and low-carbon hydrogen, the urgent need for robust grids, and the significant investments required to meet collective decarbonization targets.”
The launch ceremony was attended by officials from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and representatives from the Tokyo-based embassies of APEC member economies.
Finally, on behalf of the APEC Secretariat, Mr. Pedrosa once again expressed his deep appreciation for APERC’s enduring contributions. He noted that APERC’s work strengthens policy dialogue, improves decision-making, and helps the region navigate a rapidly changing energy landscape. As APEC economies redesign their energy systems for the decades ahead, he emphasized that APERC’s analysis will be more essential than ever.
