The 66th APEC Expert Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EGEE&C) & The 64th APEC Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies (EGNRET), held in Bangkok, Thailand on 1-2 April 2026.

The joint 66th APEC EGEEC & 64th APEC EGNRET Meeting was successfully held from the 1st to the 2nd of April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. Representatives from APEC economies discussed the key theme of “Transforming the energy landscape: accelerating Bio Circular Economy with clean energy and AI-driven energy efficiency”. Member economies shared insights on adopting the Bio-Circular-Green Economy model introduced during Thailand’s APEC host year in 2022 which seeks to leverage technology and innovation to create value, reduce waste, advance resource efficiency, and promote sustainable business models. Member economies shared examples of successful implementations, lessons learnt and ongoing challenges they respectively face. Additionally, member economies helped identify collaborative opportunities and policy frameworks that contributed to APEC’s shared goals for a resilient, inclusive and sustainable energy future. A site visit was also held at Energy Absolute, a Thai renewable power firm that operates a fleet of electric buses and has recently launched its battery-run boat service for public transport on the Chao Phraya River.
